Lydia Bedford
Lydia joined Barnet FC Ladies from Watford earlier this season and her versatility has already proved to be a tremendous asset to the Bees. She made her Barnet debut as a substitute in the match against Reading Royals in September and made her first start against AFC Team Bath last month. Lydia has also proved herself to be a capable performer in a number of positions.
Vicky Elcome
Vicky is a highly accomplished and experienced player who is in her second spell with Barnet FC Ladies. She joined the Bees from AFC Wimbledon at the start of the 2006/07 season, having previously played for the club during the 2002/03 campaign. Vicky completed a half-century of appearances for the Bees on the opening day of the current season. Vicky has been used across the backline and i an adept defender. Vicky has County representative honours for both Middlesex and Surrey.
Charlotte Herson [Captain]
Charlotte is the Barnet FC Ladies club captain and has recently surpassed Annie Barratt’s club record of 138 appearances. She progressed through the club’s junior teams making her debut during the 2000/01 season. Charlotte has played in a number of positions for the Bees and would have played even more matches had injury not restricted her earlier in her career. Charlotte led Barnet to the South East Combination League and Cup double during the 2005/06 season and successive Middlesex Cup triumphs in 2006 and 2007. Charlotte has representative honours for Middlesex County FA.
Becky Hipgrave
Becky was signed during the close season from Reading Royals for whom she had been a regular. She made her club debut on the opening day of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion. Becky has been an ever-present this season and has improved with every game‚ becoming one of the side’s most consistent performers. Becky has recently won representative honours for Middlesex.
Kate Holmes
Kate is an experienced midfield player who joined Barnet FC Ladies in the summer from Portsmouth. Katie made her Barnet debut on the opening day of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion. A tenacious and competitive midfield player who is an excellent header of the ball and fierce tackler. Katie has representative honours for the Army FA who she inspired to the Inter-Services Championship title this season and Combined Services.
Katie O’Leary
Katie made an explosive start to her Barnet career when she scored four times on her full debut against Reading Royals in September. She originally impressed when playing against Barnet Reserves for Wembley Lionesses in the 2006/07 Middlesex County FA Women’s Junior Cup Final. Katie joined the Bees during the close season and has immediately forced her way into the first team squad, making her debut as a substitute on the opening day of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Kath O’Toole
Kath is another late signing joining from Watford. A physical player Kath’s experience and strength will undoubtedly make an impression on squad. Kath made her full debut against Portsmouth.
Danielle Murphy
Dani was a last mintue signing during the FAWPL Transfer Deadline Day making her debut against Reading Royals at home. A very experienced player who was formly with Charlton Athletic, Dani will bring all of her guile to the Barnet first team and is sure to make an impact. Danielle has 23 full England caps.
Alison Read
Alison is a highly experienced player at FA Women’s Premier League level who joined Barnet from Brighton and Hove Albion during the close season. She had previously played for Wembley Mill Hill. Alison is a versitile play who has been employed in a number of roles since making her debut against Colchester United in September. Alison has representative honours for Middlesex County FA.
Cherie Rowlands
Cherie recently established a club record of four consecutive clean sheets in FA Women’s Premier League matches. She was signed on the eve of the new season from Reading Royals and made her debut a few days later against Brighton & Hove Albion. Cherie has been an ever-present for the Bees this season and has grown in confidence and stature with each appearance. Her form this season has earned Cherie Middlesex County FA Representative honours.
Gemma Rudman
Gemma was signed from Reading Royals in the summer and has been an ever-present since making her debut against Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening day of the season. An imposing player, Gemma has an eye for goal and has already found the net three times this season. Gemma’s excellent early season form has earned her representative honours for Middlesex County FA.
Holly Sandow
Holly was a close season signing from Newquay who made her Barnet debut on the opening day of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion. A strong and hard-working, Holly immediately had an impact providing assists and getting on the scoresheet herself. Holly found the net herself for the first time in Barnet colours against Colchester United in October. Holly has representative honours for Middlesex.
Gemma Shepherd
Gemma has made outstanding progress since joining Barnet last season and has established herself a regular in the Barnet first team. She made her debut last February against Keynsham Town in February 2007 having previously played for Arsenal at Youth level. A versatile and intelligent player, Gemma has been used in a number of positions. She scored her first FA Women’s Premier League goal in August and has earned representative honours for Middlesex County FA.
Dee Smith
Dee is a versatile performer who joined Barnet from Queens Park Rangers, making her debut in the South-East Combination fixture versus Enfield Town in August 2005. She was a member of the Bees’ side that won the South East Combination League and Cup Double in her debut season and has two Middlesex County FA Women’s Senior Cup medals in 2006 and 2007. Dee completed a half-century of first team appearances earlier this season. Dee has representative honours for Middlesex County FA.
Stacey Sowden
Stacey is Barnet’s record goalscorer with over 130 goals for the club since she made her debut against West Ham United in October 2004. Her form during Barnet’s treble winning season of 2005/06, in which she scored 48 goals, earned her a call up to the England Under-21 squad. Originally signed from Keynsham Town, Stacey had a brief spell with Arsenal at the start of the 2006/07 season, but returned to the Barnet fold in October. She finished her first FA Women’s Premier League season with 14 goals, a tally she is already close to surpassing in the first half of the current campaign. Stacey has representative honours for Middlesex County FA.
Claire Thomas [Vice-Captain]
Claire joined Barnet from Langford during the summer of 2006. She was an ever-present in her first season with Barnet after having made her debut against Millwall Lionesses in the opening match of the 2006/07 campaign. Claire was selected as Managers Player of the Season in her first term, which she will be looking to emulate this season. Claire has representative honours for both Bedfordshire and Middlesex, for whom she scored five times on her debut.
